Documentation
Start assembling, analyzing ROMs, and using Uttori ASM in your editor.
On this page
Uttori ASM is a pluggable assembler, ROM analysis toolkit, and VS Code extension for SNES and 6502-family CPUs. The project is in development; package and extension publication status can change.
Choose a path
- Install the CLI and assemble a first file.
- Configure a project for a repeatable target and architecture.
- Use the VS Code extension for editor builds and ROM analysis.
- Create editable Git source and integrate evidence.
- Edit saved Aseprite/PNG assets with reviewed native changes.
- Browse the SNES and 65xx topics for target-specific syntax and limitations.
Requirements
Standalone tools require Node.js 26 or newer. The extension requires VS Code 1.140.0 or newer and uses the editor's bundled runtime. Live debugging also needs a separately installed, matching emulator runtime.
Current status
The product is in development. Examples here demonstrate supported contracts in this checkout; they do not imply that a game, ROM, native emulator, or Marketplace release is bundled with the documentation.
