Installation

Install the tools needed for CLI or editor workflows.

Use Node.js 26 or newer for the standalone packages and CLI. The VS Code extension uses VS Code's runtime and does not require a separate Node.js installation.

CLI

Add the CLI to a project:

npm install --save-dev @uttori/asm-cli

The CLI defaults to the SNES target when no project configuration is present. Install @uttori/asm-plugin-65xx beside it when configuring a 6502-family or NES target.

VS Code

Use VS Code 1.140.0 or newer. Install Uttori Assembly (matthewcallis.uttori-asm-vscode) from Extensions, or use Extensions: Install from VSIX with a release VSIX. See VS Code installation for the first build.

Package status

Uttori ASM is in development. Check the repository's release artifacts before assuming a package or extension is publicly available. Bring your own ROMs. Emulator binaries and ROMs are not included.
