Source projects

Command Behavior
Create Git Source Project (asm.source.init) Create a new project and adopt a verified initial generation
Create Git Source Project from Diz Research (asm.source.initDiz) Import uncompressed Diz research into tracked declarations
Select Source Project (asm.source.select) Select the workspace checkout used by source builds and evidence operations
Refresh Source Status (asm.source.refresh) Refresh accepted generation, candidate and merge state
Refresh Capture Catalog (asm.source.catalog) Reconcile retained capture identities without reimporting
Import Capture into Source Project (asm.source.importCapture) Import matching instruction/bus evidence without automatically merging source
Analyze Source Project Evidence (asm.source.analyze) Synchronize Git research and analyze retained evidence
Prepare Regeneration (asm.source.prepare) Generate and verify an immutable original-ROM candidate
Preview Regeneration with Current Edits (asm.source.preview) Preview its native merge with current saved and supported unsaved edits
Apply Previewed Generation (asm.source.apply) Start the merge from a clean saved committed checkpoint
Validate and Finish Regeneration (asm.source.finish) Validate the resolved staged result and commit the merge
Abort Regeneration (asm.source.abort) Return an active merge to its checkpoint
Discard Generated Candidate (asm.source.discard) Release a candidate without integration
Clean Abandoned Source Temporary Data (asm.source.clean) Reclaim proven-owned scratch and pins
Build Current Source (asm.source.build) Build saved edits without requiring a commit or new generation
Relocate Source Object (asm.source.relocate) Propose edits for an explicitly declared movable object and its references
Expand ROM Capacity (asm.source.expand) Propose checked expansion to an explicit supported cartridge size
Edit Symbol Research (asm.source.editResearch) Open aliases, suppression and entry-point choices as ordinary JSON
Edit Analysis Research (asm.source.editAnalysis) Open classification, state and target decisions as ordinary JSON

Use the source-project workflow for checkpoint/preview ordering. F2 combines supported source renames with a tracked research edit; native Undo covers these file edits.

Assembly and emulator

  • Build Binary (asm.build) builds the active ordinary assembly file, including supported text buffers, and publishes a matching debug map. Source projects use their saved-input build workflow.
  • Toggle Build on Save (Watch) (asm.toggleWatch) toggles rebuilds on saved inputs.
  • Run in Emulator (asm.runEmulator), Debug in Emulator (asm.debugEmulator) and Run and Watch (asm.runAndWatch) build and use the selected artifact pair. Watch reloads changed successfully built ROMs and retains the running session on failure.
  • Configure Emulator Runtime (asm.configureEmulatorRuntime) validates machine-local ares manifest, executable and runtime root.
  • Initialize uttori-asm.config.json (asm.initConfig), Open Project Configuration (asm.openConfig), Open Project Panel (asm.openPanel) and Refresh Project Outline (asm.outline.refresh) manage ordinary project configuration and navigation.

Capture

  • Start Capture (asm.trace.start) chooses a processor/mode and local destination while paused. Default lossless instruction capture writes ACT2; enabled capture context includes WRAM snapshots, pre-action state, controller replay, milestones and a separate graphics capture spanning the complete recording.
  • Stop Capture (asm.trace.stop) drains and finalizes the artifact, then offers import. Interrupted recordings preserve partial data for explicit recovery.
  • Stop Capture and Import Evidence (asm.trace.stopAnalyze) finalizes and imports into the selected matching source project. Analyze, prepare and merge remain separate source actions.
  • Stop Live Bus Analysis (asm.trace.cancelLiveAnalysis) stops provisional indexing independently of recording.
  • Add Capture Milestone (asm.trace.mark), Replay Capture Inputs (asm.trace.replay) and Restore Capture Pre-action State (asm.trace.restore) use the matching capture context and local runtime.

See capture workflow for recording modes, budgets and recovery.

Analysis and editor information

  • Refresh Analysis Coverage (asm.coverage.refresh) and Refresh Sources (asm.sources.refresh) reload bounded SQLite views.
  • Open Analysis Source or Disassembly (asm.analysis.navigate) navigates an exact qualified location through current source, recorded RAM bytes, live disassembly or persisted CFG as available.
  • Classify Analysis Range (asm.coverage.classifyRange), Set Analysis State / Entry Point (asm.coverage.setStateEntryPoint), Resolve Indirect Target (asm.coverage.resolveTarget) and Rename Analysis Label (asm.coverage.renameLabel) prepare research edits in the selected Git source project.
  • Explain Analysis Evidence (asm.coverage.explainEvidence) opens read-only provenance and conflicts. It is available without workspace trust.
  • Show Analysis Output (asm.analysis.showOutput) opens Uttori Analysis, which logs source operations, queries and failures.
  • Toggle Inline Source Information (asm.analysis.toggleAnnotations), Choose Editor Information Preset (asm.editorInfo.choosePreset), Configure Inline Fields (asm.editorInfo.configureInline), Show Inline Source Information Status (asm.editorInfo.showStatus) and Inspect Line Information (asm.editorInfo.inspectLine) control bounded source information independently of instruction documentation.

Sources are grouped by content identity and paged at 200 items. Execution counts are observations; differing states and bus values remain distinct persisted facts. Navigation requires exact address-space and current source/build identity. See analysis views and editor information.

Assets

Open Asset Preview (asm.assetPreview.open) shows bounded image or source-PCM/decoded-BRR previews without autoplay. Export Asset to File (asm.asset.export), Review Saved Asset (asm.asset.review), Apply Reviewed Asset (asm.asset.apply) and Recover Interrupted Asset Edit (asm.asset.recover) manage saved Aseprite/PNG documents. See saved asset editing.
